Growing and Learning

No photos (Update: Photos added!), but the updates from Juliette and Oona are too big to wait.
Oona celebrated her two-month birthday on Saturday, and she actually slept through the night! She hasn’t repeated the feat, but I think she’s already ahead of her big sister in the sleeping department. On Saturday, we were in Belmar, where she slept in her car seat instead of the pack and play. Maybe we should make that a regular happening if she sleeps so well that way.

Today the poor baby had her two-month checkup at the pediatrician, and she had to have FIVE shots. She was pretty tough about it, and she also impressed Tara (our CRNP) with her robust size — she’s 24.25 inches long (97th percentile!), 12 lbs 0.2 oz (77th percentile), with a 47th percentile head. Her petite head size (like mine and Grandma Nan’s) is a Galer trait — clearly Oona doesn’t have the Lyons/Burke/Dunn melon. Her length is a little frightening — Juliette’s a giant now, but she didn’t hit the 50th percentile in length until she was a year old, so who knows wherehow tall Oona will be in a year.
Speaking of Juliette, Julie J-Bird finished up the school year yesterday with a rainy-day picnic. I can’t believe eight months have passed!

Above is big-girl Juliette getting ready to leave Belmar for her friend Sean’s birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. We had an especially great time playing skeeball, and it was a good value too. Each game lasted twice as long because I got to throw the balls after Juliette did, since hers came rolling back to us. We’re ready for the boardwalk now! Happy Memorial Day to all.
