Goofy McToothy

Oona cut her first tooth today. I was putting Juliette to bed with Oona on my lap because the baby was fussing. I felt in her mouth to see if her gums were sore, and her bottom front gums seemed harder than usual. She started chomping hard on my finger and knuckle, and each bite [...]

Long Tall Lyons

Jeff and I are medium-sized people, but we seem to be growing some long, tall babies. Oona just had her four-month appointment, and she measured 27.4 inches long — that’s the 99.9th percentile. If you had 1,000 babies, she would be the very longest, according to growth charts.
Of course, I’m glad I have only one baby and one [...]

June, Glorious June!

My two beautiful girls are growing so fast, and the summer is going faster. Juliette is gaining on 3 1/2 and learning to ride a scooter and kick in the pool. Oona is three months old and already the mini-mistress of the smile, the coo, and the kick. Now she’s finally gaining good head control [...]

A Week in Wynnewood

We had a lovely week in Wynnewood doing some much-needed yard work, shoveling mulch, eating dinner on our deck, picnicking in the backyard and taking some family walks around the neighborhood. Oona continues to grow at a record pace and smile a lot, and Juliette is getting very good at skipping around everywhere and naming [...]

Memorial Day Weekend in Belmar

The Lyons-Andrews clan made another trek to Belmar for some Memorial Day fun joined by Grandma Nan, Grandpa Jack, Aunt Heather and Winslow. It was great to see our favorite Texans, Kath and Dave, who were in town to open many many wedding shower gifts. Kath loves attention, so this was especially fun for her.

Too Much Nature, Too Red in Tooth and Claw

Our yard backs up to a public park that forms a natural wildlife habitat, which can be a lovely thing. In the spring and summer, our back garden is very private, our koi pond is home to a red-eared slider and several unidentified black frogs, and a ruby-throated hummingbird lately has been hovers outsiding our dining room [...]

Growing and Learning

No photos (Update: Photos added!), but the updates from Juliette and Oona are too big to wait.
Oona celebrated her two-month birthday on Saturday, and she actually slept through the night! She hasn’t repeated the feat, but I think she’s already ahead of her big sister in the sleeping department. On Saturday, we were in Belmar, [...]

More Belmar and Grandpa Time

The Lyons-Andrews clan made a trek to Belmar to see Kathleen, who was in town to tie up some wedding planning details.

Juliette helped by baby-sitting Emily.

What a charmer Emily is — smiles for everyone…

… especially her daddy.

Smiles!

Juliette loves her dried-up old Play-doh.

Oona is very proud of the sticker Juliette gave her.

Jeff is [...]

Grilling and Chilling with Rocco!

The brain trust behind Used Wigs Radio got together for a barbecue a couple weeks ago at the Hall-Marrone residence, and Jeff, Todd, and Russ were there too. In preparation, Oona rehearsed her newest trick — smiling!

Rocco says more with his eyebrows than grown-ups do with their mouths.

Aw, shucks! Todd put Juliette to work [...]

Oona's First Trip to Belmar

Sorry for the out-of-order post, but here are photos from Oona’s visit to Belmar the weekend before last, when she got to meet the Belmar relatives for the first time. She’s already a proud Belmartian.

Here’s Juliette with a ‘Wolf Eyes’ dogwood we planted in Wynnewood. Around here, it’s better known as “Baby Tree,” but in [...]
