More Belmar and Grandpa Time

The Lyons-Andrews clan made a trek to Belmar to see Kathleen, who was in town to tie up some wedding planning details.

Grilling and Chilling with Rocco!

The brain trust behind Used Wigs Radio got together for a barbecue a couple weeks ago at the Hall-Marrone residence, and Jeff, Todd, and Russ were there too. In preparation, Oona rehearsed her newest trick — smiling!

Rocco says more with his eyebrows than grown-ups do with their mouths.

Oona’s First Trip to Belmar

Sorry for the out-of-order post, but here are photos from Oona’s visit to Belmar the weekend before last, when she got to meet the Belmar relatives for the first time. She’s already a proud Belmartian.

Here’s Juliette with a ‘Wolf Eyes’ dogwood we planted in Wynnewood. Around here, it’s better known as “Baby Tree,” but in fact, it’s about five years old now — a former denizen of the pot collection at our old house.

Hi there!

Hanging Out at Home and a Visit to Penn

Today Oona is five weeks old — such a big girl already, and getting close to smiling. Here are pictures documenting her first visits to restaurants, Pizza Rustica in West Philly and Ruby’s Diner in Suburban Square.

Juliette’s dress is from Aunt Mary, and Oona’s pants are from Kathleen, who originally gave them to Juliette.

Saturday In The Park

It wasn’t quite the Fourth of July, but this past Saturday in Wynnewood Valley Park was a nice outing for Jeff, Juliette, Oona, and me.

Photo

Juliette found a blue ribbon tied to the swing set — it made her day.

Jeff figured out how to put Oona in the Baby Bjorn, which made his day.

Juliette and I looked for salamanders, but we didn’t find any.

Juliette’s pretty good at swinging on her tummy.

Clean Kids!

Yesterday Oona’s belly button stump fell off, meaning 1) Jeff can now change her diaper without cringing at the sight of the dried-up umbilical cord and 2) she got to have her first big baby girl bath. In the pictures, she seems to be enjoying herself, but that’s just proof that photos can be deceiving. Juliette used to hate baths too, and now she is a perfect little dolphin in the tub. Jeff can’t wait to teach her to swim this summer.

Happy Birthday Winslow!

Our crazy little pooch turned 7 today. 6 years ago he was found roaming the streets of Philly and the fine folks at the Morris Animal Refuge took him in and cleaned him up. We knew he had some issues when we got him, and that’s probably why we took him in. “Issue” dogs need homes too.

Winnie has never been confused for a “well-trained” dog: He doesn’t play well with other dogs and he bit a couple of my favorite people back in the early days. That said, he has come a long way and has brought a lot of joy and comfort to my little family at times when we really needed it. He loves our girls and loves Grandpa Jack and Grandma Nan, who take him in whenever we need to escape town for a few days.

Happy Birthday pal, you get two Greenies today!

Photo

Here’s the day we picked him up at the shelter in 2002. Skinny boy!

Photo

Today, eating some birthday cookies, not as skinny.

Photo

We made him a cake and Juliette took care of the candle blowing.

These girls know how to relax.
